HISTORY OF THE EMERGENCY SURGICAL CENTRE Skopje
THE FIRST FORMATION (foundation)
In the period between 1994 -2007, the Emergency Surgical Centre in Skopje as a surgical centre with (24h.) 24-hours coverage for health issues and all surgical cases on a national level was formed and registered in November 1994 (01.11.1994). During this period, the emergency centre functioned within the Surgery Clinics that is as an integral part of Surgery-Common Service Skopje in the State Clinical Centre in Skopje.
The first manager of the newly-formed Emergency Surgical Centre was MD-PhD specialist traumatologist Jordan SAVESKI and chief nurse Marija MILOSEVIK.
PERIODICAL DEVELOPMENT
Until the transformation, the emergency surical centre was managed by:
– MD-PhD specialist-traumatologists, Bosko GAVRILOVSKI;
– MD-PhD specialist-neurosurgeon Kiril LOZANCE and
– MD specialist urologist Mihail PENEV.
From 2007 until 2009 – after the Clinical Centre underwent transformation in 2007, the emergency surgical centre became PHI Emergency Centre. During these two years (until 2009) it functioned as an individual public health institution managed by Acting Director MD-MSc Aleksandar KISMAN.
During the period between 2009-2010, the centre was managed by Acting Director MD-Assistant specialist Redzep SELMANI until 18th August 2010 when he was appointed for an Acting Director of the PHI University Clinic for Traumatology, Orthopaedic Diseases, Anaesthesia, Reanimation and Intensive Care and Emergency Centre – Skopje.
From 2010– 2018, in August (18.08) the emergency centre was transformed from an individual public health institution into an Organizational Unit (OU) Emergency Centre (managed by Acting Director MD-Assistant specialist Ilir Hasani, as an integral part of the newly-formed clinic, PHI University Clinic for Traumatology, Orthopaedic Diseases, Anaesthesia, Reanimation and Intensive Care and Emegrgency Centre – Skopje. Currently, the emergency surgical centre is functioning as an organizational unit managed by Acting director MD Albert LESI, specialist- anaesthesiologists with intensive care and chief nurse Suzana Cvetkovska as a part of the PHI UC for TOARICEC – Skopje managed by the Acting Director of the Clinic.
STAFF
2018 – The staff structure in the Emergency Surgery Centre is comprised of fifty-five regularly employed workers (55) as follows:
– Acting Director of the Emergency Surgery Centre (1)
– Chief Nurse (1)
The rest of the medical staff is represented by ten (10) doctors in total out of which:
four (4) specialists and six (6) doctors of specialization; one (1) grad. Psychologist, one technical secretary, nurses/medical technicians , twenty-one in total (21), auxiliary staff (paramedics) thirteen in total (1З), five hygenists (5) and two administrative workers.
